Cardiopulmonary Therapy

Heart attacks, asthma attacks, emphysema/chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, or other conditions can leave you struggling to breathe.  Our respiratory therapists can help.  They work under the direction of a physician or nurse practitioner to treat a range of patients, from infants to adults by administering oxygen, managing ventilators, obtaining diagnostic tests, and administering drugs into the lungs.

We are here to:

  • interview and examine patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders.
  • Consult with other health care providers about respiratory conditions and help develop treatment plans
  • Perform diagnostic testing
  • Monitor and record patients' progress

 INPATIENT PROCEDURES:

  • Small volume nebulizer
  • Metered dose inhaler (MDI) treatments
  • Dry powder inhaler (DPI) treatments
  • Ventilator management (invasive and non-invasive)
  • Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)
  • Bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP)
  • Trilogy (home noninvasive ventilator)
  • Peak flow measurements
  • Accupap
  • Acapella
  • Arterial blood gases
  • EKG
  • Pulse Oximetry Walking and overnight
  • Breathing exercises
    • Purse lip breathing
    • Huff coughing
